This issue should be fixed by the Photoshop 22.0.1 update.
To update Photoshop to 22.0.1, click "Update" in the Creative Cloud desktop app next to Photoshop. For help with updating, see Update Creative Cloud apps.
Since I upgraded to PS 22 last night, when I open text document created in PS, it will not longer show flashing cursor on text. I have to guess where the cursor should be. This is horrible.
In the old version of PS when you wanted to edit part of a text layer, you could highlight the words you wanted to change and type over them. In the new version, there is no highlighting, so it is hard to tell if you have selected the words you want to change. (The program does still let you edit, but you can't be sure you are in the right spot until you start to type. This is a time waster.)
I currently can't highlight text and can't see the bounding box after making a text box. The problem is not because it's point text, and in the previous version that did not happen. Photoshop automatically updates, I was previously using Photoshop 2020, but I am now using photoshop 2021 which is the one I am having problems with.
I updated from PS 2020 to PS 2021, and made a paragraph text box. Immediately, I noticed that there was no bounding box surrounding the paragraph text box. However, moving around to the edge of where I thought the text box dimensions were, the cursor changed it's look, indicating that the text box could be scaled and rotated. This also applies to point text when holding down Ctrl to modify scaling and rotation. Additionally, all of the other editing functions are completely invisible such as cursor location and highlighting text within the text box.
This issue is persistent across multiple program close/open cycles, as well as computer reboots. For reference, I'm running on the latest updated version of Windows 10.
I cannot select text or see the text box in the new photoshop 22.0. The only way to edit the text is to delete it and do it again. I am on a mac using oS Catalina. I have restarted photoshop, restarted my computer, the problem is still there.
I am also getting this in PS 2021. Disabling GPU Graphics Acceleration is a temporary workaround. CMYK or RGB doesn't seem to make a difference with this issue.

I haven't heard of any customers experiencing this problem with v22.0. May I ask what color font is the type layer you're setting? If you select the type layer in the layers panel and then change the font color in the properties tab, do you still not see the text?
Hi Andrew, it isn't that I cannot see the text, it is that I cannot select the text. And I saw a few other people on the community page with this same problem. see below thread.
It worked but the interface now seems sluggish and the graphics look choppy on Mac... 😞 It is interesting as I did not have any problems on MacBook with the same PS version. Hmmm.
Having the same issue, frustrating as hell... I used the work-around and can confirm both the sluggish behaviour and that it works (my rig - 32gb of ram / geforce 2070 / AMD FX 8350 4ghz)
These new and improved versions always screw something up, last one was the compositing, now this... 😞
Here's hoping the guys and gals at Adobe get it fixed... soon. 🙂
Made an update to Photoshop 22.0 today. Same issue here. No cursor or highlighted text areas here. Only with the workaround in turning off the GPU Graphics Acceleration :(.
Why can the text in text layers in a Photoshop PDF with Photoshop 22.0.0 under MacOS 10.15.7 no longer be edited - was no problem with the previous PS version.
The same file can be easily edited in PS 13.0 MacOS 10.11.6.
There is a bug in the 22.0 version of Adobe Creative Cloud. When Ii use the text tool in a text layer in a document in CMYK mode, I do not have the cursor for editing the text layer. This is also true when I am in a document in grayscale mode. I do have the cursor in the RBG mode, but if I convert that document with a text layer to grayscale mode, the cursor is no longer available.
Same here. I can't highlight the text nor can i amend the size of the text box without stretching the font. Very very annoying. Switching off the GPU works after restart but all the graphics are very grainy and it is horrible. Hope a fix happens soon
When I select text to change the font or size or anything, the highlight does not show. I can't tell what is selected. I uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop 2021, but it still happens. Another person on my team has the same issue. Any ideas on how to solve this?
Same problem - can't edit or select text since upgrading to v22. Really, really, really huge, unacceptable issue. How did this pass QA before they released it? Solved it by installing the old version of Photoshop and using it.
in PS 2021 when i open a document created in PS 2020, the type tool doesn't show any gridline. you can't highlight writings either. it only works if you create a new document from scratch
