Major facepalm moment and massive apologies!  We're working on getting a fix out ASAP.  In the meantime the workarounds are to either just disable and not use touch or disable the Spaces plugin by simply renaming it with a ~

If you disable the "Spaces" plugin then the crash goes away.
To disable rename the "Spaces" folder in Plugins to "~Spaces".
Change
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2022\Required\Plug-ins\Spaces
To:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2022\Required\Plug-ins\~Space
...

Hallo,

Dude. Come on. Telling us a fix is coming "very" soon, demonstrating that Adobe knows exactly what's causing the problem, and then leaving us with no update that you could deliver over air at any time to all of us who pay to stay up to date, is just lame. Post the fix. I don't like my most important app only being operational via breaking it by renaming a folder.

Hello Adobe team,

Is there a fix for this yet? I see the workarounds but is there a patch coming out soon? Thanks so much.

The workaround works perfectly...kinda seems like the "Spaces" plugin is just bloat. I might keep the fix permanent even after a patch does come someday...

We're having the same problem and have not received any support for a fix yet. We submitted a bug report here (https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-bugs/photoshop-latest-version-20211101-crashing-r...) and have removed all addons, reset settings, installed the latest pro graphics driver, etc. Enabling touch causes crashes during use and random crashes even when not in use.

After new 23.0.1 update, If I try to open or save files to PSD or PSB, it still crashed. If I only open one jpg file, it will work well.

So under your announced 'fix' it states 'Crash when trying to select with Windows Pen on SURFACE STUDIO.  Is this the 'fix' if you are also on HP Envy 360x, or just the Surface Studio????

@hakokoto you must be hitting something different now. There's a section in this document on how to get the crash reporter dialog to show again: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html

Touch screen crash is resolved on my Dell Inspiron 2n1. I never had an
issue with my active pen.

Thanks for the fast turnaround on the fix!

Thanks, Mohit!

Should we turn Spaces back on, now? What does it actually do? Deactivating it hasn't negatively impacted PS at all as far as I can tell.

Prior to 23.0.1, we were only crashing when using touch. I never had a
problem with Active Pen on my Dell 2-n-1. With 23.0.1, my Pen still works
fine and touch is back to normal.
There might be an issue with your specific hardware. Maybe the fix caused an
issue with the drivers for your Wacom device?

Mark
