P: Photoshop can't open, freezes on splash image, uses all of ram trying to open then crashes.

I have googled every possible variation of this problem and tried every fix for this problem, none of them worked. I have tried reinstalling photoshop, deleting everything even remotely related to photohop in the appdata, deleting custom fonts, restarting the computer, updating graphics and computer, and holding every possible combination of alt, ctrl and shift while trying to launch in administrator mode. The result is always the same. It opens the splash image, gets to loading preferences or brushes, spikes RAM usage to every last byte of RAM I have, freezes the computer, then crashes.

And no i'm not running it on a potato i'm running it on an Alienware Aurora 4090, it should have more than enough power to handle this and Photoshop ran perfectly fine for months. Then just today it crashed and has never started up again.

Photoshop version 25.11

UPDATE

We identified a problem with a recent Adobe update that caused Photoshop and several other Adobe beta apps to fail to launch. We’ve released an updated installer to fix this problem. Please download and install the latest Creative Cloud beta applications. This update should resolve the launch issue.

Thanks,

Cory - Photoshop Product Manager

Thanks Bogdan Bobo for offering a solution.

I would kindly like to note that the problem is not limited to Beta apps. I had the bug in both Photoshop and Photoshop Beta. Removing only these two with the cleaner tool did not fix it. Removing all apps via the cleaner tool did fix it.
Also, for thopse dreading the move:  I did not lose any preset.

Hi there. We're sorry for the trouble. I am merging this thread with the parent thread.

The bug is already logged, and the team is working to fix it.

The current workaround is to use Creative Cloud Desktop Cleaner:

Thanks,

(MAC M1 USER) I had the same issues - Photoshop won't open, stick on 'Bottlenecks'  I tried the App cleaner, uninstalling, re-installing, rolling back versions, deleing preferences from the hidden Library - nothing work.

I opened it in Rosetta, and it works. I'm pretty sure this will restrict the usage of it, but for anyone reading this who just needs it to work in it's basic form (because your job relies on it opening) then this is a work-around until Adobe sort out a patch update, and stop breaking stuff. Hope that helps someone.

This doesn't work. It is a INCORRECT ANSWER.
Many posts show that it didn't work and the problem, as already reported, is not only with Beta versions.
(I don't know why it's selected as the CORRECT ANSWER)

For me, deleting all the Beta-Versions, did work. Not only PS Beta, but ALL BETA VERSIONS.

Another one here with the same sudden problem. I work with a Power Mac with 192 GB, and suddenly Photoshop and Photoshop Beta stopped working. I've tried reinstalling, using the CC Cleaner, but so far nothing seems to work. I can't believe I'm paying a lot of money for programs that are always failing in one way or another. Not being able to open Photoshop is just the last nail in the coffin. How is this even possible? 17 pages of people with the issue and this keeps happening?

Same problem, the cleaner did not help. Crazy that so many people have to delay work for these stupid reasons. Will it be patched soon??

Hallo liebe Community,

I guess it is listed as the correct answer because for many of us, it was/is. Also you need uninstall your Photoshop/Illustrator, Indesign, and any other programs you are having problems with and then reinstall them, restart, and run Disc Utilities if you are on a MacOS.

also, it may be helpful to list what OS you are using, also the version, and the computer you are using. Maybe removing the Beta versions is just a fix for MacOS (Ventura in my case)

Yes, I agree that it works this way too. The method I proposed has an advantage. The CCC tool doesn't actually uninstall the beta applications but only removes them from the CC manager. Therefore, you can continue to use them until Adobe provides a real solution to this situation.

I am having the same issue. I've spent the whole morning reinstalling Photoshop and updating MacOS, but Photoshop app is not starting. Same with the Beta version.

When you start photoshop beta (the regular version gives the same error), it starts to take up all the RAM (I have 32GB).
It freezes at the moment of reading preferences and Windows issues to close the program or wait for the program response.
