P: Photoshop can't open, freezes on splash image, uses all of ram trying to open then crashes.

I have googled every possible variation of this problem and tried every fix for this problem, none of them worked. I have tried reinstalling photoshop, deleting everything even remotely related to photohop in the appdata, deleting custom fonts, restarting the computer, updating graphics and computer, and holding every possible combination of alt, ctrl and shift while trying to launch in administrator mode. The result is always the same. It opens the splash image, gets to loading preferences or brushes, spikes RAM usage to every last byte of RAM I have, freezes the computer, then crashes.

 

And no i'm not running it on a potato i'm running it on an Alienware Aurora 4090, it should have more than enough power to handle this and Photoshop ran perfectly fine for months. Then just today it crashed and has never started up again.

UPDATE

 

We identified a problem with a recent Adobe update that caused Photoshop and several other Adobe beta apps to fail to launch. We’ve released an updated installer to fix this problem. Please download and install the latest Creative Cloud beta applications. This update should resolve the launch issue.

Hey, I solved the problem!!! Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool to remove all the BETA applications... ALL of them.

I removed the beta apps as CoryShubert instructed and restarted my Mac Mini M2 running Sonoma with 16gb. I can confirm that this fixed the problem and was able to start Photshop

I had the same problem...suddenly Photoshop and Illustrator would not open...working fine last week, today...no. I tried all he solutions offered. Then I uninstalled all the Beta versions of different Adobe apps that had accumulated and shazzam! That was it.

Tried all the same solutions with no luck. All other Adobe programs I tried opened with no issues. Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Adobe Raw. I did not try the Cory Schubert update yet. I'm assuming Adobe will figure this out and post some kind of fix. I'm running a MBP M1 Mac MAX 32g with 14.5 + (most recent iteration). But the zinger seems to be that opening the Photoshop app uses up every bit of avaialable ram before freezing.

The solution remove Premiere Pro Beta worked for me. I have been trying for six hours to get photoshop fixed since I knew that it wasn't my laptop where the issue was. 

 

Just one more question... what happened to Photoshop Beta? I removed the app in one of my attempts to get photoshop working again. But I can't seem to install it again? The app seems to be gone. Am I missing something? I got quite used to the Beta version.

Agree with your comments. Given that this is a paid Subscription service
supposedly professional I would expect a far swifter notification from
Adobe that there is an issue and how it can be fixed. We should not have to
be stumbling around in community websites and Facebook for solutions. Adobe
has the email address of every single one of their paid subscribers all of
whom should have received an email indicating that they have screwed up
something and how to fix it.

PS and AI wouldn't open.

Rolled back PS, AI and removed all betas.

 

The apps open... for now.

This worked for me, so thank you. It was stressful to go without Photoshop.  But I do use the beta versions of other programs. I hope we get them back.

Beta versions are for testing and are supplied "as is" and there might be risks in using them. It's best not to install Beta versions if you're not prepared to take the risk!

Agree that Adobe needed to be much more forthcoming but CoryShubert's fix, posted 5 days ago worked perfectly. I just had no idea that the problem existed and it wasn't until I had time - I worked around using LightRoom -  that I found the issue and the solution.

I use Photoshop daily. Two days ago it just stopped opening. Both the Beta and the production version. I am on the latest version. 

I tried uninstalling and re-installing. 

Tried installing earlier versions.

Tried deleting each program and starting over. 

 

I'm on Sonoma 14.6.1 

M1 Macbook Pro
