P: Photoshop crash with batch jobs

Photoshop crashes when using batch jobs.

Using the latest update on windows 11.

All the actions work fine when even if i select and click play on all of them at once, picture by picture but when i try to use a batch jobs with the retouches it crashes.

It's been happening since the december update.

same problem here. iahave been trying to solve it for 9 hours today. it was just fine a week or two ago and suddenly this thing happened.

@Alexandra27391033kn60 @Kero F You'll need to contact the manufacturer to see if there is an update coming.

The last update they released was in September 2022, so prior to the latest Photoshop release.

Otherwise you may need to reinstall Photoshop 2022.

Anyone have some new info on this issue? I am having errors with Heal and Fabric. When I run a batch it fails.

A couple things to try:

Update to the latest Ps, 24.1.1

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

I had an issue previously and I resovled it by right click on phoshop, select properties, turn on " run photoshop as adminstrator .

Perhaps its the volume of images.

How many images are you trying to batch? What is the average size of each?

How much free HD space and scratch disk (preferences/scratch disk) do you have available?

Tried it with open as administrator but same thing.

Images are between 15 and 20 MB. Tried it with 5 pictures, one picture or 100 pictures. Still the same thing. In december before the december update i did a batch of 2k pictures and it worked fine.

Scratch disk is NVME 250 gb. With 150 gb free.

I have tried so many things at this point. No matter what I do, some of the plugins will randomly crash on certain images while working perfectly fine on other images. I will set up an action for applying heal and dodge and burn. Once I do that I will set them up to be batch processed through the image processor in Adobe Photoshop. It will begin the process and (at random) on certain images it will fail and stop.

My system in Windows 11 with a Ryzen 9 chip, 128gb RAM, RTX 3090 GC.

I would love some suggestions. I have tried everything accept reformatting my computer.

Hello, I am hoping you can provide assistance with resolving my issue. No matter what I do, the Dodge and Burn and Heal plugin randomly crashes or fails on certain images while working perfectly fine on others. I have set up an action for applying the dodge and burn, and then batch processed the images through the image processor in Adobe Photoshop. However, at random, the plugin fails and stops processing on certain images. I have also tried applying the plugin directly on the images that cause the crash, but it still fails. MSI Meg Godlike Motherboard
AMD Ryzen 9 3950x chip

I have tried the following solutions:

Uninstalling all software and Adobe Photoshop
Deleting Ailayers along with any traces of the plugins
Running the software as an administrator
Turning off the graphics card in Adobe Photoshop
Updating my drivers
Updating windows
Changing the setting to 1 under Ailayers in the plugin registry.

I would send you a crash report, but Photoshop just freezes and does not allow me to see a crash report.

The specific third-party plugin is not updated so your only option is to not use it with Current Photoshop or downgrade/install an earlier compatible version of Photoshop using the Creative Cloud application (click the ellipses ... next to the application in the CC app for options).

1. Does your retouch workflow in batch action make use of Retouch4me plugin?

2. Can you use some other PS inbuilt retouch workflows instead of Retouch4me plugin and see if you still see the crash.

It doesn't make sense, I haven't updated photoshop and it started for no reason, and now no matter what ver of photoshop I use it crushes randomly.

I've used it 1000+ times
and then for no reason at all
everything works worse and some photos *crushed no matter what* while others can work

I've used 21.2.3 for a very long time then it started crashing when using the plugin *very randomly*
then I moved to 22.5 thinking it would work and it didn't
then to 23.3.2 and later on to 24.1 nothing worked
just crash after crash

I've been with support for 2 hours and they didn't find the reason for the problem
very very frustrating mainly cuz nothing really changed

Hello, they are using the retouch4me filters. I seem to have found a "workaround". I do not get the crash instantly if i go to RegEdit and manually add TdrDelay and TdrDdiDelay with value 30. It still crashes after a few pictures but not from the start. From what i see in the crash it's to do with EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION.

Hi @vladcrihan It's been noted in other posts that the Retouch4Me plugins have yet to be updated for compatibility with newer Photoshop releases and is causing crashes in current releases.

The reason is the plugin. It has not been updated so as noted on here and other posts, it's causing current builds of Photoshop to crash.

If you don't use the plugin - does your Photoshop crash? No.

When you use the plugin (even randomly) does Photoshop crash? Yes.

You should contact the developer - the more users that reach out for support, hopefully the sooner they will address.

Thank you for the crash reports you have posted @vladcrihan. As @Kevin Stohlmeyer mentioned the team said the crashes are happening because of the plugin ReTouch4Me. If you restart Ps holding the Shift key to disable thirdparty plugins, does this solve the issue?

I noticed after the crashing started to happen, it also started to get weird with Liquify as well. I had to turn on the revert to 2016 Graphics card button in photoshop prefferences to get it functioning decent. The retouch4me plugins only seem to work is you use the older versions pre 1.0. I would ask their team to send you those versions until these bugs get worked out.
