are you using a Wacom? Sometimes when using the mixer, it doesn't register the end of the stroke when i've gone off the canvas and will hang up like until i find some way of ending the stroke... or force quit.

I can recreate this crash. PLEASE FIX THIS.

My exact steps are as follows

1. switch to mixer brush.
2. check the box marked sample all layers
3. sample any part of the painting.
4. uncheck the box marked sample all layers.
5. paint with mixer brush.
6. add layer mask to the layer.
7. voila. photoshop crashes and permanently hangs. It wont give you the option of doing a crash report either.

Crashing and hanging/freezing are two completely different behaviors.

If an application crashes, you will get a crash report dialog of some form.

Then it hangs? Only way I can get out of it is by going into task manager and killing the program. I've tried holding down the Esc key and ive tried waiting to see if it comes back. it just stops responding entirely.

My photoshop freezes every time i'm trying to use it.
I have more than 50Gb of free space on my disk and can't find any reason to have such problem. it doesn't related to some specific step. I mean it happens absolutely randomly. No any errors or any message from PH.
How is it possible to fix it? Thanks

Does it crash or just freeze (those are two very different behaviors)?

I have the same issue here. Photoshop hangs after using mixer brush and then selecting layer mask. When is the fix coming? It's impossible to work now.

Same here. Photoshop locks up under the following conditions: I select mixer brush. Paint with mixer brush. I seem to be safe do just about anything at this point with no crashes, including flatten my layer down to another layer, switch tools, etc.  EXCEPT, if I create a layer mask, the program locks up in a way that seems to be unrecoverable. No error is thrown. Would love a fix for this.

Mac OS X, latest version.

I'm relieved to see that I'm not the only one experiencing this bug. I can see it happening after using the mixer brush and then either switching to an already existing layer mask, or adding any adjustment layer which comes with a layer mask (all of them). Even flattening and saving the document before adding/selecting a layer mask does not help, nor does switching the selected tool (away from the mixer brush). I'm eager for the fix to come out since I just got CC this month and so far I'd be inclined to ask for a refund and go back to CS6.

I am having the same issue. I am running windows 10 64 bit OS, have updated my graphics driver, and Photoshop is up to date. Each time I try to use the mixer brush with a layer mask Photoshop hangs forever.

This is frustrating as hell. I have work that has to get finished and I can't use the program I pay money for to do it. *sigh*

Well, I remember at least 1 update I installed after this message and yet the bug is still there. So basically we've been paying for our subscriptions for a half a year now and have not been able to use our Photoshop all this time. This is very frustrating. I kind of hate you guys for being so slow at resolving this issue.
