P: Tab order (width > units >height) is wrong in New Document dialog

This is a really annoying mistake in Photoshop and Illustrator, probably others. When I make a new document, enter dimensions in the "width" field, then hit tab, it should move focus to "height." Instead, it moves to the units. This is just wrong. Seems like a minor nitpick, but this is just one of many small UI mistakes that make these expensive programs harder to use than they should be. Please fix ASAP. Thanks.

I've asked engineering to take a look. Looks like the last time the tab order was width > height > units was in CC 2019. Not sure if this was an intentional change or not.

Yeah, to double down, there seems to be no equivalent to the Illustrator uservoice site to report bug for Photoshop. That form redirects me to this forum. So apparently this is the right place to report bugs. I'm aware that this is mainly a user forum that Adobe uses to insulate themselves from having to fix actual problems.

Tripling down, Adobe Support Twitter told me that this is the place to do bug reports for Photoshop now.

It gets me every time....I move fast, I use keyboard for speed.

I know the dimensions of the graphic I want to create.

  1. File > New..
  2. Click the Width field
  3. Enter 1536
  4. Tab
  5. Enter 2048

What? That didn't work????

Who thought that it was a good idea to have tab ordering going Width -> Units -> Height?

It should either be Units -> Width -> Height or Width -> Height -> Units, probably the former so it is clear in your mind what units you are working with.

It's the little things that reveal whether the details matter.

v23.2.2, macOS Big Sur.

They have no incentive to fix it so I don't think they will. I'd love to be proven wrong 🙂 @J453 Any word from engineering?
