P: Text tool stops working after duplicating file and closing the original

I usually make several duplicates of my files to test on-the-go design options, and I've encountered a problem with Photoshop CC 2014:

If I open a document, all the text is editable. But if I duplicate it (Image > duplicate), , and then close the original file, the text tools stops, and I receive this error while typing on a text layer or trying set a point or paragraph text: "Could not complete your request because of a program error".
