P: Unable to save in folder named with ^^xxxx (double circumflex in the string name) (macOS)

If you try to save a document with photoshop in a folder named for example ^^WEB-site, the program generates an error.
The problem occurs only with Photoshop for OSX (mac). In Windows it runs perfectly.
Previous versions worked correctly (I now use PS 2020).

Could you solve the problem?
Thank you.

Giorgio.

This issue should be fixed in the 21.2 update that went out this AM. Let us know if you're still having trouble.

Special characters for web content are a dead end.

Switch to two underscores “__” or two dashes “—“ and you should be fine.

Is it a FAT drive? See this page about illegal characters: https://kb.acronis.com/content/39790

The example I wrote in the post is the name of a folder on HD, it could also be ^^MyPhoto. It would produce the same problem.

The system is OSX with APFS drive. Any other program has no problems accessing that folder, for example Indesign, Premiere ... Only Photoshop cannot.

I just gave it a try.  It seems File > Save and File > Save As... will not work while File > Export will.  I also moved a PSD to the folder after saving it elsewhere and it opened and saved as expected.  This is under macOS 10.13.6, Photoshop 21.0.3 to Desktop on the HFS+ Macintosh HD.

It's strange for sure, but then again. special characters are special characters.

Oh, I misread your issue. I thought Ps was preventing you from creating a folder with those characters. It is odd. A bug that should go on their list.

Howdy Giorgio,
I just logged a bug for this issue.  Hopefully, it will be addressed soon.  Nice catch.  I tried a ton of other examples, but just that one failed.
Thanks and sorry for the hassle,David
