P: When changing tabs, you see the current tab until you resize the entire image window

Sometimes if I have multiple files open in tabs, when I select another tab from the one I am working on, I will continue to see the tab I just navigated from until I resize the entire window. This also applies to tab groups of other windows such as character, paragraph, properties, layers, etc. So for example, I will be in the Layer tab in a tab group, click on the Properties tab, and continue to see layers even though the Properties tab is selected. Then when I resize the window, I'll see the correct content in the tab. Sometimes, opening an additional file has also fixed the problem.

This doesn't happen consistently enough to replicate on command, it only seems to happen once every few days, and on completely random files. Still, this is a huge disruption to my workflow.

Are you on Windows? Sounds like a graphics driver issue. If you go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" and restart Photoshop does the problem go away?

If so, update your graphics driver and reenable the preference.

I'll try it. It may take a while to know if it took effect or not since it seems to happen randomly.

Shoot, it just happened again. That must not have been the issue. Any other ideas?

That is super strange. I've never seen that behavior. I'll probably have to consult with the engineers who do the windowing framework.

Hi Jamie,
You write that you are on 10.12. We are aware of an issue with macOS 10.12, where we did not get unhide notifications and as such got into a state where the UI would not update properly. This issue was fixed in 10.13.4.
If you are seeing this issue on an OS that is 10.13.4 or later, please let us know.

Hi Jesper, I've noticed this same issue has recently started occuring again even though I am using the most up to date version of Photoshop.

As I tried to state in an earlier comment. This is an issue related to macOS, and you will need to use macOS 10.13.4 or higher.

Geoffrey, hi! A year has passed, many people still have a problem, there are several similar topics and all are unanswered. What did the engineers say? Is any work being done to solve the problem?

Yeah mine was fixed for a long time, and recently had the issue pop up again. Sounds like a lot of others are in the same boat!

Same here. Same OS. Inorder to make the tab show the actual content of the tab, I have to resize the entire PS window. Just drag it a fraction bigger and the tab will display.

Same here, photoshop freezes on my current canvas and allows me to switch tabs but nothing changes. Trying to switch between documents only shows the document canvas I'm currently working on unless I manually resize the window as suggested. Also, clicking between tabs on the workspace, like adjustments/properties does not change the to the active tab.
