I have been having this annoying problem for several weeks now. None of the solutions on the internet work at all. If this is your first time reading about this problem, these are the solutions I've seen so far (none of them is a real solution, each one causes other problems):

- Uncheck "Use graphics processor" in the performance tab in configuration. Result: It disables the rotating canvas features for Wacom tablets after a couple of minutes or just instantly.
- Check "Deactivate native canvas" and/or "Older GPU Mode (pre 2016)" in technology previews tab. Result: It becomes absurdly lagged, it is useless to work, just moving the canvas makes it go at 1fps.

I also have all my drivers updated (GPU, Windows, Wacom), PS updated, and with priority for the GPU. Is there any real solution for this? I have an RTX 3080 8 GB. This should not happen.

@RealMikeBaldwin Older GPU should only be used if the first option does not help.

Hi @David286748043kl2 Go to Photoshop Preferences/Technology Preview and check “Disable Native Canvas”. Then check “Use Older GPU Mode (2016)”. Quit and relaunch PS.

Hi Everyone,

I reported the issue to engineering.  In the meantime, you can workaround the issue by disabling Preferences -> Performance -> (GPU) Advanced Settings ... -> GPU Compositing.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi guys!

1. The problem is that the newest versions of adobe premier pro and after effects work very poorly with the latest "studio driver". Especially when exporting.
And with "game ready" it works great. Therefore, it is difficult for those who work in all applications in parallel.

2. Enabling support for older video cards greatly slows down work in Photoshop. Therefore, the solution, unfortunately, is not suitable. Video card rtx 4090

It doesn't help at all, enabling "Older GPU mode" makes the lag unbearable. I hope it gets fixed soon.

@Kevin Stohlmeyer  I don't see either option in Preferences/Technology Preview. I looked in every area too. There is no mention of “Disable Native Canvas” - I also don't see “Use Older GPU Mode (2016)” anywhere. I just yesterday downloaded the latest version of PS 2024.. so this is the most current update.  I also made sure the Graphics Processor was checked- apparently that was required too - it was already checked. This is certainly a pain, impossible to design using text boxes due to constant white box visual errors when moving ANYTHING, and makes me want to stop using PS in general. See screenshots attached. Thanks for the help!

@Travis S182 revert to PS CC 2023 and go to Technology Preview prefs and check disable native canvas. This feature is missing in current 25.1 but will be in an update. For now stick with 2023.

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
Does turning on »Deactivate Native Canvas« (Photoshop > Preferences > Technology Previews) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

I have tried turning off Use GPU in the Performance Preferences, It solved the problems but I won't have the smooth zoom feature and everything is looks less smooth, FYI it never happened for me before until the last update which really annoys me, and the Deactivate Native Canvas is not showing on my PS PS_white_stripes_02.png

Is this the full release or beta version?

If it is the beta version then check this feature in Preferences and restart Photoshop.

If this is a display glitch then it will very likely fix it.

Deactivate Native Canvas.jpg

The full release version no longer has this option.  I see you are using an Nvidia GPU. If you are using the Game rready driver, change to the Studio driver.  Otherwise, try the beta version

It is a full release version, I have not installed any beta apps.

So I tried to revert back to older version and the Deactive Native Canvas option appears.

PS_white_stripes_03.pngThis is my CC apps looks like:PS_white_stripes_04.pngthis is so confusing... It seems the issues never happened in this version.

Have you checked whether your GTX1070 is using the Game Ready or Studio driver?  It could be as easy as switching to the Studio driver if not already installed.

The beta version has regular updates that you _have_ to install or it times out.  It is not quite as stable as the full release, and I find I have to reset Preferences a bit more often, but only every couple of months maybe.  It has Parametric Filters, the option to turn off layer mask badges (that seem to annoy some people) and I am sure other stuff that I can't remember.
