Photoshop 2022 crashes when I try to open a file made in 2020

After I updated my Photoshop to 2022, I can't open files that were made in 2020.

None of other 2020 users I asked couldn't open the file either.

I'm stuck with my work because of this issue.

It didn't work changing file name or saving in different PC.

Anybody know how to fix this problem?

Hi @Takeshi98A5 sorry to hear this. Could you share some more info, what happens or what errors are you seeing when you try to open these files? Are you able to open ANY files?

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Does it work correctly? 

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back. 

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

So can you open the document with an older version or, if a TIFF, another product (or a product that supports PSD)?

Can you upload one of the problematic documents to something like Dropbox or similar so others can try?

This is how it happens.

1: My client made a file using Photoshop2020

2: I checked it on my 2021 and saved it on my PC

3: I upgraded my Photoshop to 2022

4: Now I (and anyone else using 2022 at my office) can't open the file with 2022

But not ALL the files but some. I can't distinguish how it's different.

I can open file1, file2 but not file3, file4 opens but not 5...and so on.

When I try to open the file, the loading circle icon comes out and freezes.

After this happens I can only force quit from Task Manager.

I've try it on Clip Studio and it worked. But Clip Studio rasterizes all the text layers so I can open it but can't work on it. I asked the person who made the file on 2020 if she can open it, and it worked OK. She tried saving it again with a different name, but I still couldn't open the file on my 2022.

I haven't tried TIFF it might work...I'll ask her to try this.

This is how it happens.

1: My client made a file using Photoshop2020

2: I checked it on my 2021 and saved it on my PC

3: I upgraded my Photoshop to 2022

4: Now I (and anyone else using 2022 at my office) can't open the file with 2022

But not ALL the files but some. I can't distinguish how it's different.

I can open file1, file2 but not file3, file4 opens but not 5...and so on.

When I try to open the file, the loading circle icon comes out and freezes.

After this happens I can only force quit from Task Manager.

I've try it on Clip Studio and it worked. But Clip Studio rasterizes all the text layers so I can open it but can't work on it. I asked the person who made the file on 2020 if she can open it, and it worked OK. She tried saving it again with a different name, but I still couldn't open the file on my 2022.

I haven't tried TIFF it might work...I'll ask her to try this.

Hi, I've tried sevaral things.

1: Asked other person using 2021 to save it as Tiff, I can open the file but the layers are lost.

    Other people using 2022 tried to open this Tiff file but layers were gone.

2: Everyone can open the file on 2021 but not 2022

Is the only way I can solve this problem is downgrade to 2021...?

Hi @Takeshi98A5 thank you for supplying your sysinfo. Your graphics driver: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is 6 months old and should be updated.  Also we don't see your subscription info, so please make sure you have a copy of Ps that is downloaded from your Creative Cloud app to make sure of its authenticity.

But other people using 2022 has the same problem, so I think it's not only that.

About my subscription info, I wasn't quite sure if I can put that kind of info on public space so I erased that part. Seems that it's OK so I will put it here. I'm sorry for the confusion.
