Photoshop and Brdge WONT OPEN after update

Explorer ,
Apr 23, 2025 Apr 23, 2025

It is taking every bone in my body to not swear and not drop profanities here.

This morning I opened my iMac, opened CC and updated both Photoshop and Bridge.

Neither of these two programs work now. At all. NOTHING.

Photoshop opens and has the window frame, so it looks like it's open, but there are no panels or anything inside the window. Utterly unusable.
Bridge opens, and looks fine, but won't show me any files at all. It just has the little spinning wheel in the bottom left corner.

How do I fix this? Immediately?!?!? I am a photographer and need this program for work. Every day. My actual job depends on these programs.

To anyone who is reading this, do yourself a favour and find another program to work with. Adobe does nothing but take your money in order to create less and less workable programs.

This is a joke, Adobe!! You are the only company that creates more bugs with every update.

HOW DO I FIX THIS!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

One way to quickly resolve issues is to revert to previously working versions. Have you tried that while you figure out where the problem lies?

Hi @Oliver H Photo, I completely understand how frustrating this is, especially when your daily work depends on these tools.

As Bojan suggested, the quickest way to get unblocked is to revert to the previously working versions of Photoshop and Bridge for now.

That said, the recent updates are working fine for me and my colleagues (I just tested them myself), so this could be a machine-specific issue. Once you have time, I’d recommend the following steps to isolate the root cause:

  • Try launching Photoshop in Safe Mode  (Win/ Mac)— this disables third-party plugins and extensions that might be interfering.

  • Try clearing the Photoshop preferences manually and keep a backup of your settings as well (https://adobe.ly/3GqoaBS).

  • If Bridge continues showing the spinning wheel, try the steps suggested in this HelpX.

Let us know if any of the above helps or if you need a hand walking through them — we’re here to help!

Best,

Anshul Saini

Have you tried resetting Photoshop preferences?

Otherwise, you can revert back to the previous version of Photoshop that worked.

Thanks guys. I've managed to get the previous version to work again.

I understand that PS is an immensely complex program, and therefore bugs and glitches will occur, from time to time.
My relentless frustration with Adobe is that with every update, there are new bugs and glitches. There is always some sort of an issue with it. Always.
But hey, what can we do when there are no suitable alternatives...

These things happen. With newere versions there may be some new glitches/things not working and usually, like in your case 😉  , going back a version worked. Maybe next version will have it fixed 😉
