I reinstalled the driver and here is the up to date sysinfo. Ps is ok now, but after a few moments it will crash again and say the GPU is not compatible.

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Hi Vanessa,

You have two GPUs. It is best to force Photoshop to use the NVidia GPU.

If you right click your desktop you should be able to open the NVidia Control panel. Once open choose 3D Settings > Manages 3D settings

Switch to Program settings and select Photoshop (you may need to add Photoshop.exe if it is not already there).

Change the preferred Graphics Processor to the NVidia processor.

Repeat the above for the sniffer.exe application again setting the NVidia processor as the preferred GPU

Use the Adobe Creative Cloud App to uninstall Photoshop
Restart the computer
Install Photoshop via the Creative Cloud App without launching any other programs.
Restart the computer
LaunchPhotoshop
Wait 5 minutes... does the error persist?

@CoryShubert I tried this way, and it didn't worked again. But this time was different, see the printscreen. After this I ended the task in the task manager and restarted PS and again shows the message: GPU is incompatible.

Go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and check "Disable Native Canvas" - then restart Photoshop. Does the problem still occur?

Can you tell if the problems might be triggered by some certain workflow (eg, using Camera Raw to import RAW images, or using Neural Filters, Liquify or doing lots of zooming in and out?

Your GPU is within reasonable performance limits to handle things. Have you also tried deleting preferences?

@Mark.Dahm Hi, Mark! The problem occurs even if I'm not on laptop. Sometimes I just open Ps and go to do something else away from the laptop and when I come back, the Ps is already frozen and I need to terminate the process in the task manager.

We're zerioing in on your GPU because it runs at about 25% of the recommended speed that Photoshop generally needs. Part of this could be that it's just old hardware and it runs slow, or it could be a bad driver update from nVidia and that card that is doing it in.

If you turn the GPU off in Preferences > Performance, then does the crashing go away? If so, then I'm inclined to think the GPU or its drivers may be the trouble; there will be another update from nVidia coming this month that you could upgrade to when it comes out. If you run the installer directly from nVidia, be sure to choose the 'Clean Install' option so that it clears out the older files.

If it is still crashing even with the GPU turned off, then the problem could be elsewhere. Let us know how the GPU off configuration behaves.

There was a new development. I updated Ps to the new version available on Adobe Cloud (23.5.1) and the software stopped freezing or closing automatically. Now the GPU remains compatible(all checks green), but after using the software for a while, the visual effects like zoom, transform control... stop working and revert back to the old way.

If I restart Ps everything goes back to normal, but after some time the visual effects stop working again.

As @CoryShubert instructed me, in technology previews, the "Deactive Native Canvas" remains enabled.

Try checking for updates for your operating system. If you are using NVIDIA drivers try looking to see if there is a new driver. That was my issue... just found out about it this week and made the change.

@VanessaSantosM,

If Ps still dies with 'Deactivate native canvas' enabled, then I recommend unchecking that option; it uses an older canvas surface that might have worked better with your card, but apparently, isn't. If your crashing is worse with the native canvas enabled, then for sure, check it again.

Photoshop is losing track of the GPU during use, so I recommend fully turning off the GPU in Preferences > Performance to see if that is more stable. It will certainly be slower compared to GPU on, but reliability is what we are after right now.

If you require the GPU, there may also be issues with the current GPU driver; an update is due soon from nVidia, so be sure to install that when it comes out; also, do a 'Clean Install' for the installer option (which you should get directly from the nVidia site).
