Photoshop doesn't open existing files

Explorer ,
Feb 26, 2024 Feb 26, 2024

I have been editing some photos recently and a few minutes ago I tried to open some .PSD files that I had saved on my computer. To my surprise, they did not open as expected. Instead, a new window opened with the same size as the photos I was trying to open, and a "new archive" with a white background appeared. I am worried because I rely on these saved files to have specific configurations and effects applied to other photos with the same style.

Somebody can help me? Thank you!!!

Your screenshot displays the new dialogue that appears when you select File > New. To open a file, try using File > Open, then navigate to the file you want to open and double-click on it.

Exactly, but I tried to open an existing file, where is my photos editing process and instead of opening the file, the dialogue appears like I'm trying to create a new document with the same dimensions of the file, which is not the case. I tried dragging the file to photoshop's interface and also using file > open. And the same thing occurred. Any ideas what can be happening?

Open from Windows Explorer or Bridge.

The home screen was never intended to be a file manager, and it doesn't work like one. If the file is moved or renamed elsewhere, the home screen will still point to the now empty location on disk.

I got some help in Adobe Creative Cloud chat and fixed it. The problem was related to some Google Drive storage bug. Finally, I downloaded the archive from the cloud to the computer and replaced the old version in the synchronized folder. And now I can normally open the file. Thank you for your help and hope it helps someone in the future.
