Why when opening Photoshop 2022, messages are always displayed: "the feather command is not available"

By @Tania21403431mpm2

Hi Tania,

It's difficult to tell with your partial screenshot, but it appears that you are in the Home Screen, not in a document. Confirm that you have a document open.

  • Make a selection first, then go to Select > Modify > Feather to add feathering to the current selection
    or
  • Choose a Selection tool, then change the feathering in the options bar to affect future selections made with that tool.

See this website for details on taking a proper screenshot:

Sounds like you might have Script Events turned on.

Go to File > Scripts > Script Events Manager... and uncheck "Enable Events to Run Scripts/Actions" and restart Photoshop.

If that doesn't work, let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:
Restore your preferences using this manual method:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually
Does it work correctly?
If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.
If it does solve the problem, I would like to get the folder of settings to try and figure out what is bad with them.
