3D Lighting in Photoshop

Best explain this with an example: From my database of photographs, I take a coiled snake, remove the background, and begin to composite a new scene around the snake.  The new scene requires new lighting.  Lighting the coils of a snake can be tricky.  The 22.2 version of PS still had the Render>Lighting Effects feature which provides some assistance in positioning different light sources to gauge different lighting effects.  However, it's limited.  For example, I've found no way to backlight the subject using Lighting Effects.  It is possible to use the 3D features of v22.2 to move cameras around primitives to get at least a rough sense of what lighting my snake should look like.  I'm wondering if anyone may have discovered a simple 3D program which makes it easier to move cameras around primitives or imported objects to set up a simple lighting model for the PS composite.
