So...The engineers need to ask the users first before making any changes. In the recent 2024 upgrade, they changed how to do a gradient which was with one click on the left tool bar selecting on the gradient tool and then clicking again on the default foreground and background colors and right away you could drag and drop the gradiant tool on your background and test colors... now you have to create yet a new color preset somewhere else, and have to name it and keep a file of all these different gradients, and go thru several clicks damaging and wearing out our hands and joints, just to test different gradients for my background colors on my collages. Now I have to use an older version of Photoshop because the new one is causing me too many problems in the gradient department. Reverse it back to what it was please. I have a macbook pro m3 max btw...and I was not able to leave this message in the original post, so I had to reply to my own post.

that work now because I am using an older version of photoshop. maybe i will switch to 2024 later when I have the patience to deal with it and will test it with classic, however, I remember trying to change it to classic on the 2024 version and it did not work.... its the 2024 version that will not let me do gradients simply anymore on my macbook pro. i will wait a few months before reinstalling the 2024 version on mac and see if they fixed my gradient issue.
