I have been trying to render a video I did in Photoshop CC 2017 on MacBook Pro . It used to work before! but as shown in the image, the Adobe Media Encoder option is in grey and I am not export as a video file.

Can you go to Photoshop >Help >System info and press the copy button. Then paste the info here

Sorry , that is not a genuine licensed copy of Photoshop. Adobe have never sold a perpetual license for Photoshop CC. We cannot help you further.

To be honest, with a hacked version, none functioning video could be the least of your worries. They are renowned for containing malware.

It usually works the other way round Jane. You select image sequence and the format dropdown shows still formats, or you choose media encoder and the format dropdown shows video formats.

The original post issue was caused by using pirated software. If you are using genuine software then please give further details of the version and you hardware. If you are not sure go to Photoshop's System Info and press copy. Then paste the info here.

I use this same photoshop version on my Win 10 I7 16 RAM SSD 256 and works fine.

Unfortunately I don't as I use Windows not a Mac M1. My previous suggestion was based on the info in the Adobe link I attached which states that "Import, Export, and playback of embedded video layers" require running under Rosetta.

I can confirm I was having this problem using a licensed Photoshop CC (22.5.0) on a Mac Mini (M1) running Big Sur.

I relaunched Photoshop in Rosetta and the function to render video using Adobe Media Encoder is now working (no longer greyed out).

Adobe - please make this work running natively on an M1, thanks.

This is the solution that I find works for me. You need to force Photoshop to open in Rosetta:

In your Finder (the Desktop), go into the Applications folder and select the Photoshop application.
Choose File > Get Info.
Check on Open using Rosetta.
