Usually after I automatically align multiple layers, my next step is to select a maximal rectangle that is common to all of those layers. Perhaps this can be done automatically but I've not found how to do that. It would seem to be an easy feature to program and it would save me a good deal of time and tedious cut and try efforts; I suspect others would find this useful too. The selection could be done at the end of every auto-align operation without much danger, but there could be a preference setting to disable it.
