Are there plans to phase out CEP extensions?

I noticed that the Extensions menu in 2021 now says "(Legacy)" and was curious if this portends CEP panels being phased out in the near future (2022 release, etc.). And if so, what would replace it? Plugins and JS Native?

I've read CEP will eventually be replaced with UXP

as far as we know there is no specific date to delete cep because uxp is still under development and still full of bugs. I think this will still take a long time, although I think this will not happen.
