Blend mode not exporting

New Here ,
Jul 13, 2024 Jul 13, 2024

Hi, new to Photoshop and learning.  I'm trying to export a layer so I can use it in After Effects.  I used the Divide blend mode and deselected Red in the Channels.  This gave the image a blue glow that is lost  when exporting. Can someone help tell me where I'm going wrong? Thanks.

Apart from Dissolve blend-mode via opacity, modes such as Divide result in the end effect by blending the upper layer with the lower layer/s. Without a lower layer there is no divide result.

I have never used After Effects, however, it would surprise me if it didn't have the same blend mode and other options.

As an alternative, you can use a color overlay layer style:

Another option is using a transparency clipped solid fill layer:

Thanks for the quick feedback.  I was using a few different files (some with transparency, others without), but just went the route you said (easier).  In after effects, I had the same divide mode, but was having trouble locating the area to edit the mode (e.g., deselect red).  In any case, on the right path.  Appreciate the help!  Thanks for your time.
