Blending a face

I was wondering if you could help. I'm trying to blend a face that I cut out using the lasso tool to an image that is a drawing (Like a comic character). I try to use the blend option but the face comes out transparent and all the colors are thrown off.

I also tried to feather the face cutout but I still haven't been able to succeed with that either.

Does anyone know the best way to impose a face on a character so it won't like its just a cut-out superimposed on top?
