Blending Mode Keyboard Shortcut help

Community Beginner ,
May 16, 2025 May 16, 2025

How do I remove blend mode shortcut keyboard commands? I keep hitting the wrong key command that changes my brush setting from Normal to Dissolve or Screen, and sometimes I don't notice until later and have to go back and redo everything. When I try to remove the command in Keyboard Shortcuts, I get "Opt+Shift+D is an invalid shortcut. Menu commands must include & and/or an F-key in their shortcuts." Which I think is strange, because Opt+Shift+D is a shortcut, but for some reason it can't be changed?

I appreciate any help, thank you.

Hi @drew_5465!

You might need to include the Ctrl key in your shortcut for it to be recognized and added to your keyboard shortcuts.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you run into any trouble.

Hey @Aleke

I'd prefer to remove all of the blending mode shortcuts (OPT+SHIFT+corresponding letter) all together, but it seems like it is cemented to PS. Any way to erase them?

Hey @drew_5465!

I think those might be built into the app by default, so removing them completely could be a bit tricky. That said, a great way to share your thoughts is by posting on the Ideas board — the dev team keeps an eye on it for suggestions and feedback for future updates!

Thanks so much for bringing it up!

Cheers,
