This is something I noticed after the latest update but whenever I switch file tabs to view a different file then go back to the one I was currently on, the rotation angle I had the canvas at or where I was focused on by zooming is 'reset'. It is quite inconvenient for an artist like me, who constantly switches tabs to look at other drawings references or to get a color. I would revert updates but I know there must be someway of turning it off. Could anyone enlighten me on this?

What version of photoshop and windows are you using?
Have you tried resetting the photoshop preferences by going to Edit>Preferences>General, clicking on Reset Preferences on Quit and restarting photoshop?

Apologies for the late reply. Im using version 24.5. No I have not tried reseting the preferences, though Im not sure how that would work. I mean this only started happening when I updated it, and I dont know what in the preferences would've triggered this. But I'll try it anyway

Yes i'm seeing that on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 with photoshop 2023 (ps ver 24.5), but not
on the Mac side with the same photoshop version.

Tried it last night and it didnt work. Its still doing it and strangely enough, a side effect of restting the preferences is that any recent files I opened werent showing when I reopened photoshop 😕
I think I'll just revert to the previous PS version until a solution can be found

Ken, I am finding the beta version more than a bit flakey, and have had to reset Preference twice last week, so I shoulf have warned you that a reset would not affect the issue. I was hoping to see someone from the Development Team join the thread, because it seems to be built in to the latest update.

I wondered if floating the document windows might prevent it, but it didn't work. We should at least tag an employee like @Pete.Green to make sure they are aware.

Nothing productive to add here, besides I'm also getting the same issue. Tabbing to any window resets the orientation and moves you to a random point of the screen.
If you open any dialog window while the canvas is rotated the issue happens. This can be another photoshop file or just any window like the colour picker or such. It only started when I upgraded to 24.5
I'm running Windows 11 here, I've tried uninstalling everything creative cloud related and deleting the adobe folder. Same issue persists on a reload.

Its been a close to a month since I started this thread and I just noticed that photoshop has a newer update: 24.6. Has the afformentioned issue been fixed in this latest update?

Originally this reply was made out of anger and my frustrations with how bad photoshop has become since the start of the year and while I do feel justified in feeling that way, I dont think I should've let out on a forum thread. Since I cant seem to delete messages here, Im just going to edit this post to remove that rant.
Needless to say, Im very dissapointed with how Photoshop's fallen this year. And while this isnt as bad as the weekly program crashes and lost progress I experienced for the first three months of this year, its still incredibly inconvenient. I feel I should look for other programs to use for drawing

It appears to be fixed in the 24.7 update.
