Can not open because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered

Hello, I have been working on a file in photoshop 2022, have saved it many times. The last time I saved my computer froze, I restarted and now I am getting an error message that says: Can not open file

because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered. Also, sometimes when I try to open it it will be a file not found message.

Is there anything I can do? Also, will add that I run google drive and it was still syncing as it was a large file. I don't care if I lost the last save but I really don't want to start over. Any ideas?

I am running MacOS Catalina 10.15.7

So it was new file still not synced to Drive? I am afraid you can not recover file.

Do you have a backup copy of the file? It could be corrupted if you crashed during a save.

Google Drive should be able to show you previous syncs that you can hopefully go back to.

  1. On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
  2. Click on the file you want to download.
  3. At the top right, click More
  4. Click Manage versions.
  5. Next to the version you want to download, click More
  6. To save a copy to your computer, click Download.

That is what I assumed - just hoping maybe someone had a trick. Thanks!

Were you saving to the Google Drive folder directly when saving?

Try saving to your desktop then dragging in.

Google Sync could have interfered with the save action.
