Timeline in my Photoshop app (24.5.0 release) is not working at all--it is grayed out and won't do a thing. I have an assignment to create a GIF in Photoshop. I have 10 images; I turned them into frames in the layers panel but that was all I could do.
The Render Video option in Export As also does utterly nothing.
Due date for assignment in one day!

Hi Kevin, I had to use an online GIF maker with the jpgs to get the project done in time for my class. I had read in here about someone a couple years ago who had the same problem I had and they wound up reinstalling Photoshop for Intel rather than the M1 chip and that resolved the issue. I also have the M1 chip, but when I attempted to reinstall I was not given the Intel (or any) option, it just auto-installed. Even though that class is finished I would still like to be able to use the animation feature. Here is a screenshot of what I was working with and the nonresponsive Timeline window:
