Can't save file as jpg after using the object selection tool

After I use the object selection tool to select my subject, do my desired modifications to the selected area, save the master file as a PSD, then I also want to do a "save as" to a jpg, but it does not give me this as a possibility (see the PDF file attached).  I like the tool, but it's useless to me unless I can create a full-sized jpg to send to stock agencies after saving as a PSD. I have this problem on every photo file I have tried it on. Is this a bug or a "feature"?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi @photogal11 sorry to hear this.

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Restore your preferences using this manual method:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thank you,

Cory

Oops, I meant to post this on a different reply.  My issue is solved by clicking the preferences >file handling > Legacy save as
