can't select tools - tool selevtion snaps back

When selecting a tool (pensil, crop tool, stamp tool.. whatever) via keyboard shortcut, it does get selected but immediately snaps back to the last tool I used. I usually have to select the tool four or five times until it finally stays and doesn't snaop back to the previous one. Sometime it only helps to select via mouse to prevent it from going back to the last tool I used.

Also when I start Photoshop some Shortcuts don't work until I select them via mouse first, such as F for the screen mode.

I use Photoshop 24.3.0 on Mac OS 12.6 on an intel based imac 2017 as well as on Mac Ventura (latest version) on a Mac Mini M1 - they both produce the same bugs.

Try going to Preferences > Tools and uncheck 'Spring Loaded Tool Shortcuts'. Then click OK and close and restart Photoshop.

Wow - Thanks Dave!

That seems to have done the trick... god, I would never have found that.  (..and I wonder how I got that selected.) At a first look everything seems to be fine now!!

Thank you so much, you saved me from lots and lots of headache. 😉
