I was having trouble opening Photoshop on my Mac, it was getting stuck on 'Loading Halide Bottlenecks'. So I've found the solution here: Photoshop freezes at launch.
The solution was to locate your Photoshop/ Presets folder and then move any really large preset file to a temporary location. So I looked and found my patterns.psp was 9.15 GB! So I moved it I reopened Photoshop and Photoshop loaded immediately, so the solution offered worked like a charm partially..
The next step says that I could manually load the problematic preset file after I launch PS through the Preset Manager. So I tried it, but the preset manager import would not allow me to select that type of file which is ridiculous because it is a Photoshop preset file (.psp) so instead I selected a few of my saved pattern group files (.PAT) and imported them which seem to work but when I open the pattern window none of my patterns are there so where did they go what's happening?
Any help or insight on this would be great!

Have you tried changing the suffix to ».pat«?

Please post screenshots or a screenrecoding (including the pertinent anels obviously) to clarify what you have done exactly.
