I checked this at the Epson site, and there is a download called "scanner driver and Epson scan utility". The latter is standalone scanning software. It will produce a finished file that you save to disk, and can open in Photoshop. That's all you need.

WIA is a Windows scanning utility that is basically intended for office use. It's very limited and you don't need it. Just use the Epson software.

D Fosse.  That is what I have been doing.  I would like to be able to import directly into PS though.

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

You can't, not since 2008 or so when the (third-party) TWAIN plugin was still alive. CS3 was the last Photoshop version that supported TWAIN, but support was dropped because it was unreliable and caused a lot of crashing.

In addition, no 64 bit version of TWAIN was ever made, so by CS4 it pretty much became obsolete by itself.

As someone who did this a lot, I was only happy to see it go. Scanning directly into Photoshop was a pain, because you couldn't actually use Photoshop while the scan was running. All you could do was sit and stare at a green progress bar for five minutes. It could test anyone's patience.

Much better to use the standalone software and scan to disk, and get some work done in the meantime.

Oh, and WIA is far too limited to even consider. It's fine for scanning text documents, but useless for images.

LATEST

Dear,

The Epson driver is required to connect your computer and printer so that they can communicate with each other. Reinstalling the latest drivers fixes common printer errors and frequent disconnects.
