Those who know are not at liberty to divulge the release dates here and those who don’t would have to guess …

If you prefer processing RAW images with ACR instead of the camera maker’s proprietary software you might want to petition them to allow shooting DNG so that Adobe does not have to play catch-up with each new camera model’s RAW format.

Hi there,

We are happy to announce the release of Lightroom Classic 9.4 & Lightroom Desktop 3.4 which integrates Camera Raw 12.4 and now supports the Canon EOS R5 raw files.

Here's a list to the other newly added camera support in the August release: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

To update Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop to the latest version, click "Update" in the Creative Cloud desktop app next to the app. See: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/update-app.html

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Akash

I would rather avoid Lightroom and at least use Bridge before passing to Lightroom to process the CR3 files from the camera.

That makes no sense, the underlying RAW engine is the same in ACR and Lightroom. And there are some metadata bugs when moving files back and forth between LR and Bridge.

Could you elaborate on the metadata bugs? I wonder if I have met up with
them! Thanks!

I have filed bugs, but there are problems with keywords. There are multiple namespaces and keywords can get mangled or duplicated when moving between the apps. Also, labels do not match by default, and some metadata (Lightroom flags, for example) are not supported in Bridge.
