Cant get rid of grid in Crop Tool

Whenever I use the straighten option in the crop tool, a fine mesh grid comes up and makes it almost impossible to find a striaght line to use as a reference.

I have gone through every setting and have even had a friend who is more PS savy than me try, and even he could not get rid of the mesh. This issue only showed up after a recent update.

CC is right up to date as well as my Win10.

Please help it is extremely annoying.

I have the same issue! The Rule of thirds grid is selected, but when I left click to rotate and refine my cropping selection a fine multi coloured grid all but hides the image making accurate cropping impossible. I have tried every way possible to correct this but have had to select "never show overlays" which is far from ideal because it removes any reference lines to aid straightening horizontal lines. This has only occured since the newest update.

This is running on a fully updated Windows 10 machine.

If you mean while using the Crop tool, see the answer earlier in this thread from @c.pfaffenbichler .  If you mean something else, please clarify.
