CEPHtmalEngine Helper CPU Fan Issue

I have been experiencing an ongoing issue or a long time now with the fan running constantly and Phtoshop and Illustrator hanging.  When I check Activity Monitor, I notice CEPHtmlEngine Helper is using 98-99.3% of my CPU.  A quick Google shows this is an issue dating back to 2015 with promised fixes that have never seemingly arrived.  

I found this doc that points to a fix (last undated June 5, 2022!😞 https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/high_cpu_usage_cephtmlengine.html

Step 1: was fine, permissions are as they should be.  Step 2: I cannot complete for Photoshop (2022) becasuse there is no CEP folder inside the "Required" folder for this dirctory tree: /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CC 2015/Adobe Photoshop CC 2015.app/Contents/Required/CEP/extensions/com.adobe.DesignLibraryPanel.html/

I would really appreciate a fix for this issue as it is making my work flow very frustrating as I have to wait for all of the hang time.

Thank you for the sysinfo @Regina 7, the team has asked if you could  figure out which CEP extension is causing this high CPU...

To check for the extension which is eating the CPU & RAM up.

1. Open Activity Monitor
2. Look for the CEPHtmlEngine process which is driving the CPU/RAM up.
3. Double click & go to files & open ports tab in window which opens.
4. Search for logs & from the entries you can get the extension name. (e.g /Users/manish/Library/Logs/CSXS/CEPHtmlEngine11-ILST-26.5.0-com.adobe.illustrator.OnBoarding.log)
   
   

In the next step.
Try removing this extension & launch your app to verify the issue.
Please keep a backup before you remove the extension so as to restore it if needed.

Hi Cory,

Apologies for the late response.  I did an SMS reset and that seems to have cured the issue for the moment.  It is just interesting that when I put a search into Google for " CEPHtmlEngine Helper CPU Fan Issue"  the first thing to come up is adobe issue.  After digging deeper, I found a suggestion for resetting the SMS.  It was an easy try so I just went for it and that seems to work so far; no fan, no hang time and CEPHtmlEngine CPU at .4%.

Could this still be an adobe issue? Or does this make it a hardware issue? Interested in your thoughts and thanks for your help.

I feel like my "solution" needed more clarity. It's actually an SMC reset (not SMS as I wrote). The link for Mac is here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202179

there are reset instructions for various processor types, mine is an intel so I followed the link and instructions for that. Hopefully this helps someone else from hunting and pecking for a solution.
