I have created some png´s of water splashes and when I try to change the color of them it´s not possible. I have tried with adjustment layers (Hue/Saturation and Color balance), when using hue I´m only ablet to turn the water splash dark/black by using the lightness slider, non of the 2 others have any effect. I´m trying to make the water splashes orange and place them on a black and white object. the only solution I´ve found is to use the blend option "Overlay", but then it only works when the background is the intended color.

To get the splashes I created a layermask, copied the image over, inverted it and pressed alt + del on the layer to get the final splash which I then exported to png files.
