changing the ink from matte black to photo black leaves the printer set to matte black on the R2880

on the R2880 I swapped photo black for matte black a few months ago, and it worked fine. Now I am switching back, but the preferences dialog is still showing that matte black is installed, so I can't use glossy paper. I have tried reseatting the photo black cartridge, turning the printer on and off, and exiting photo shop and restarting
