Color selector is awful now

Community Beginner ,
Apr 14, 2025 Apr 14, 2025

I have to click so many places now to get to the color i want. It used to be that if I wanted an orange I can select that color range on the right and the intensity of it on the left, now I get these really light color selections and I have to click who knows where to get the color I want. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The only reason I keep Photoshop now is that it works with PDFs better than anybody elses program. Photoshop gets worse by the day.

Is this a ‘modified’ Photoshop (because of the coloured title bar) ?
What happens when you activate the ‘H’ radio button?

It sounds like you have inadvertantly changed one of the selector buttons. Could you post a screen shot of your  color picker?

The top one is what I get now in my personal Photoshop compared to what it used to be and still is in my work Photoshop (the bottom color picker)

I don't know what a modified Photoshop is, those are just my Windows color settings. But this is what fixed it. I don't know how it defaulted to the other choice though. It never has before.  How do I make it default to this choice instead of the RGB selection?

It should default to whatever the setting was when Photoshop was last closed.

@scottscott

Click on the H of HSB to restore the normal look (rather than the R of RGB that is currently highlighted in your screenshot)

Edit: Sorry, I've just noticed this is already suggested above by pixxelschubser

Yeah, I got that. I want that choice to be selected by default every time. I don't want to have to select H every single time I want to select a color to get the correct picker. Is that possible?

Here it defaults to whatever I used it as the last time, in other words the last setting sticks
