Copy and paste Newbie

I'm new to Photoshop so forgive me....I'm trying to copy and past from one image onto another but instead of a clear cut edge I'm getting these hazy edges...what am I doing wrong?

In the Option bar at the top, when you make your selection, be sure Feathering is set to zero.

How did you select the image in the other document? Give all of your steps and show the image with the marching ants.

I used the eliptical round marquee tool then clicked on Copy Edit. Then create and paste
