Could not complete your request because of a program error when I try to drag&drop or open photo

Photoshop 26.10

Windows 10 Pro 22H2

I used this last night to remove objects from about 20 pictures, the "open" function was working great, also with the exporting process. No problems. A bit later, I was starting another task, and all I was trying was to drag and drop a picture, remove the background, and collage it with another picture when this stubborn error kept appearing. I was expecting the picture to open on the canvas as a Layer and just do my thing from there. I restarted PS, I restarted computer, I did everything from the guides, I updated the drivers. I also used an older version, same problem. I don't know what else to do. Any suggestion is helpful

Hey, @valentin_9539. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Have you recently also updated Windows or any other drivers? Try these primary steps:

Go to the location of the preference folder below and rename it to backup.

  • Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings
  • You can press Press the Windows key > Enter 'Run' > Enter %APPDATA%\Adobe
  • Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop Beta > Rename > Adobe Photoshop Beta. old), You can restore these preferences later if needed.(https://adobe.ly/4860qM9)
  • Restart the computer.

These changes will give a fresh start to Photoshop as a fresh install. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!
