I have this PS file with a smart layer, I use it all the time to create mockups, right now I'm not able to edit the contents of smart layer, I get an error saying this.

Can you supply a bit more information? ie. how the file is saved? .psd, .pdf, .tiff? Maybe include a screen shot showing the layers panel?
