I am new to PS.  I would like to take a picture, digitize it and draw it on the outside of a cylinder.  I want to make the beginning and end seemless (blended so that it is a continuous pictoral).  Does anyone know if this can be done in PS?

You would have to make sure that the two ends will match. If you start with a 360° panorama, the ends will match automatically. Otherwise, you can use the Offset filter to put the two ends next to each other, and then paint over the seams.

Excellent! Thank you. Now to figure out how to blend the sides together.
