crop what's going on?

I've been a photoshop user for 20 years and suddenly I can't even use the crop tool!

What's going on???????

My crop tool is creating new artboards, extending things, turning into a pointer, enlarging my document, anything EXCEPT cropping the bloody thing.

Have you tried resetting the Tool

If that doesn't help try resetting the preferences

I've done both and absolutely nothing. I'm fuming, this is ridiculous

I'm really losing my temper here, a 10 second job is turning into a nightmare. I tried to crop by resizing the artboard but it keeps the cropped-out pixels if I save for web. If I export artboards to files I can't export a gif. And the crop tool does anything but crop
