Cropping/Fill tool Problem in Photoshop 24.1.1

I have consistently found a problem when using the Cropping Tool and then following using the Fill Tool in Photoshop 2.4.1.1. After cropping an area and then using the fill tool (content aware/100%), there is a dark background found on the edges of the image. Have a look at the bottom edge of the attached ship photo and you'll see what I mean.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @JamesLeslie99 when cropping are you deleting the cropped pixels? What is your background color?

The results seem to be fringing from the edges of your image.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

What happens is that I select a given area, in this case the bottom 1/2" of the image using either the crop tool or lasso tool. I then select the fill tool (content aware/100%) and fill in the selected area. What remains is an outline on the outside edges of the area selection. This outline can be removed with the healing tool but it's just another step. This situation did not occur until the last revision or two of Photoshop.

@JamesLeslie99 Could be unrelated, but your graphics card does not meet minimum requirements for Photoshop - the recommended minimum speed is 2,000 ops/sec and your UHD Graphics 630 from 2017 clocks in under 600.

Have you tried using Edit>Content Aware fill instead of Edit>Fill>Content Aware?

The new feature allows you to control the Content Aware sources intead of a blind pull.

I'll try your suggestion of using Edit>Content Aware fill and see how that goes. Regarding my graphics card, Photoshop runs just fine on it. Thanks for your reply.
