Custom Shape Issue - Version 25.9.1

Community Beginner ,
Jul 13, 2024 Jul 13, 2024

Brand new to using Photoshop and appear to have lost some custom shapes I created a few days ago... I created 4 and only 1 now is showing as available, despite having used all in projects previously. I'm trying to locate them by selecting 'Windows > Shapes' as I did previously but they're not showing in the panel of recently used and I can't find them when I search for them... any idea where they might have gone? I'm using version 25.9.1. as the newer version kept crashing. Any help appreciated! Thank you.

By the way: If they are not among the recents did look for them in their proper positions?

In this example the tree-shapes are not among the recents but they are present nonetheless.

Did you ever save the custom shapes as a csh-file?

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Shapes, Options Bar, …) visible?

In any case you should be able to get the paths from the files where you used the missing shapes originally.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't think to save the custom shapes as assumed once created, they would be available for future use!  I've searched through all the folders (and also by name) but they're not there... I have now created again and will save as you suggest in case the same issue occurs. Appreciate you taking the time to reply, thank you!

It may be useful to save and back-up all your custom Presets (Actions, Pattern, Brushes, …).

Custom Shape issues in Adobe can be frustrating! For version 25.9.1, try these troubleshooting steps:

1. Restart Adobe: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve the issue.
2. Reset Custom Shape Tool: Go to Edit > Preferences > General > Reset Custom Shape Tool.
3. Reinstall Custom Shapes: Delete the custom shapes folder (located in Adobe/Presets/Custom Shapes) and reinstall your custom shapes.
4. Check for Updates: Ensure you're running the latest version of Adobe.
5. Disable Graphics Processor: Go to Edit > Preferences > Performance > Disable Graphics Processor.
6. Reset Adobe Preferences: Hold Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Windows) or Shift+Command+Option (Mac) while launching Adobe.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, please provide more details about the problem you're experiencing (e.g., error messages, specific symptoms), and I'll do my best to assist you further!

Newly created custon shapes would be stored in the Preferences-file »CustomShapes.psp«, but sometimes Preferences can get corrupted or affected by crashes.
