Defining a pattern from a layer and scaling the pattern - 300 images to automate

Hi Guys,

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

I am trying to automate this with actions and it won't work.

I have a few hundred patterns saved as jpgs but I need to readjust the scaling eg 50%.

The problem I have is when the action runs it just overwrites the rest of the designs with the first pattern due to naming convention.

I know I probably need a script for this. Can anyone help me with this please?

Basically my action is

open file

duplicate locked background layer,

define pattern

Layer style - pattern overlay

Change scale to 50% (or whatever is needed)

Flatten Image

Delete pattern

Then go through the rest of the images doing the same

Is this possible?

Thanks for any help

Neil

• Based on your description you seem to define the Pattern at original size and then apply a scaled Pattern Overlay, no saving, no new defining of a Pattern, … – so what good is this exactly?

• What is »or whatever is needed« supposed to mean? How is the »needed« scaling to be determined in an automated process?

Please post meaningful screenshots (including all pertinent Panels) to clarify the actual process.

The ability to scale and rotate Patterns is good in principle, but not exactly well implemented.

The Resample Method used here seems … let’s call it: »problematic«
