Desktop doesn't show items in PDF presentation

Hi, I am new to PSCC 2019 after 10 y of PSCS. I tried  a pdf presenation, and  a multipage doc and I am shocked. the desktop shows 3 items when I have tons. Then I found my folder in recent, and there is Nothing inside.  Am I doing something wrong? thanks. Monterey
