It's unclear what you're seeking.  On the one hand you say Photoshop but then you say you want to create animal characters (aka puppets in Character Animator).  So which is it -- Photoshop or cartoons?

Photoshop is a raster image editor for working with photographs and pixel art.

Illustrator is a vector graphics app which is much better suited to cartoon characters  with eyes, ears, arms, hands, mouth, etc... which can be manipulated in Adobe Character Animator to make live action cartoo

@CharlieLovesTheInternet,

Compositing photographs is an advanced skill that goes beyond the scope of this user-to-user forum.  I suggest you work through some tutorials on combining images, masking and controlling color, scale and perspective to produce realistic results.  Jesus Ramirez's PTC channel on You

Hi @CharlieLovesTheInternet

I'm not sure what kind of advice you are looking for, but here are a couple of things that come to mind:

  • Be sure you have the rights to use the images. Many images you find on the web are copyrighted and you won't be able to use them. Take the photos yourself, buy them from a Stock site (i.e., www.stock.adobe.com , or look for sites that say the images are free to use.
  • Put each image on its own layer and save as a psd.
  • The final will be a jpeg, which has one layer and is lossy, so you may be able to bring the file size down (while losing some information.)
  • Keep the psd so you can make edits and create a new jpeg as needed.

If you are new to Photoshop, you will need to learn the basics first. Take an instructor-led training course or watch a tutorial on LinkedIn Learning. Try the one by Julieanne Kost.

Was it full color before you saved it?

What settings did you use to Save it?

And which app are you using?

Hey Charlie,

you have posted the same question in two forums:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/convert-images-to-cartoons/m-p/12655943#M3059...

If you want to work in vector art, Illustrator would be my suggestion. And there is no one button or option you can select to do what you want to do. You will need to break out the pen tool and draw. Last, with the massive volume of graphics you want to create this will take a long time.

Can we ask; what are you tryint to do and why are you using copyright protected images?
