Down arrow adjustments causes Photoshop to minimise

In PS on a mac with apple silicon, whenever I select a down arrow to make an adjustment e.g. layer opacity, brush opacity,  brush flow etc the PS application minimises and the slider to make the adjustment appears on the desktop. The adjusment can be made on the desktop but then have to reselect the PS application to get back on screen

I found that this was in fact due to having "Stage Manager" turned on, a multi desk top feature in mac OS, and when I turn it off the problem goes away

What version of macOS and Photoshop are you using?

 

I would try a reset of the Photoshop preferences:
