Duplicate a layer into same document

When I duplicate a layer into my orignal document, it moves. I want it to dupe right on top of the original layer. Whey is this happening?

Are you duping from the same doc, or another doc?

Are you viewing at less than 100% zoom? If so view at 100% or larger.

What version and build of Photoshop are you using?
