Eye dropper crashing Photoshop CC 2022

Hi, recently installed CC on new 16" MbP - crashes every time I use the eyedropper to sample a colour.

Anyone got any experience/advice before I have to reinstall (and lose precious working time)?

Thanks!

I'd like to know the answer to this, too. I'm having the same problem (new Mac Mini computer). I've done all the updates. The only thing that seems to have helped is to change the sample size from "all" to "5 x 5" or something similar, but it still surprises me by crashing suddenly when I use the eyedropper tool. It is VERY frustrating.

I forgot to add - I do not use the sample ring. I'm just trying to select a color. Selecting from a different open Photoshop file seems to cause the worst problems, but I used to be able to do this easily in CS3.

I'm having the same issue. Newest update of Photoshop and if eye drop any color in a document outside the one in focus it'll freeze. New iMac with newest OSX. It's a perfectly clean machine with nothing loaded except CC and Cinema4D.

Tried resetting preferences as mentioned in this thread without solving the issue.

Hi

Which version of Photoshop are you using?

Reset the eyedropper tool right clicking its icon in the options bar (top options bar)

Having the same issue.. using version 21.1 - Each time I use the eyedrop it completely crashes Photoshop and won't even open files that were opened during the crash.

Yep, tried that. Didn't seem to work. Went back to using CC 2019 instead.

What is the resolution for this?

PS 2020 / 21.1.2 - recently (last week) updated, and using the eyedropper freezes the whole application?

The eyedropper tool is not enabled to click on.  The whole thing is locked.

I have just started experiencing the eye dropper crashes/hangs. Latest version of PS on a Mac, select a color w/ eyedropper and instant spinning beachball that doesn't go away, PS becomes unresponsive! Maddening to say the least HELP!

Any fix for this?   It's happening to me as well.  When using eyedropper and selecting a color on an open photoshop document thats not the current active document.   Also, crashing when changing pantone colors in channel swatches, when I go to type a new pantone, for example if I want it to jump to Black 4 C,  I will type "Black" and suddenly get the spinning wheel.
